CPT (Curricular Practical Training): To be eligible for CPT, the student must have completed 9 months in lawful status and currently be on F‐1 status. CPT can be authorized for full-time or part-time work and the duration varies depending on the program requirements. However, it is typically shorter than OPT and may not exceed one year.
OPT (Optional Practical Training): International students can obtain OPT for up to 12 months after completing their studies. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) students may be eligible for an additional 24 months of STEM OPT.

OPT: 12 months (standard) or 36 months (STEM)
